Weeks 4-6

The Crew
Taking down the units ... down deeper that is - watch out for mulberry
Screening away ... just look at all the pretty artifacts

Moon rising over the pond .... sorry about the sideways view
Some of the local fauna
F10-86 ... this beautiful feature had a lot of exciting stuff - their are layers of shell, fish scale, FCR and lots of bones - even more scales
Ah yes, speaking of 10-86, there was also a Bison Vert

Oneota Dog Burial

Some pretty pottery coming out of 10-10 ... needless to say, Seth was very excited
What else was coming out of 10-10 ... oh yeah a house, the left side of the photo shows a series of flags marking the location of post-molds that were part of the west wall of a wigwam style house similar to two already found on the site in previous excavations. A series of post molds in the southwest corner angle away from the wall, it is likely that these were for internal benches.
10-07: Wall trench w/ posts, running into a ? center post?
10-07 - excavated - floated - and now the basin

Got to close the site somehow ... might as well make it fun and fast
Plus I have to earn my new name

Week 4: Vigit-pocalypse - 20,000 leagues under the pond

The Storm looms overhead ... its gonna be a nasty one

All the remaining campers made it in and bunkered down in the cabin

Remnants of the Vigit ... See week one blog for a better idea of what it looked like before

THE NEXT DAY
Some of the trees on the path up the site didn't look much better than the tents

There's plenty of water in the units ... luckily the tarps held pretty well

Water was the least of our problems in some of the units (10-04 and 10-05)

Tuesday wasn't all bad ... the storm provided plenty of raw materials for our leaf crowns (provided by Gibby, thanks) - Here are the TA's and Dr. Jeske modeling off the new fashion trend our field school has started, give it 6 months and the whole nation will be doing it

Week 1: Welcome to the Field

Day 1: 6/1/10
After a morning of orientation, loading equipment and a nice long drive we finally arrived to the field school.

Upon our arrival at the site we found the essentials. First things First .... Time to set up camp. Afterwards we can get down to some real archaeology.

Once the camp was set, everyone was settled in, and a short introduction it was time to where the next six weeks would be spent.

Day 3: Learning to Dig round holes
